Mystery and Understanding (Poem by Mark Swift)

Mystery,
A great enemy,
It shrouds the vision of all.
In its wake are shadows,
In its grasp are claws.
In its hands are minds,
Who couldn't handle its laugh.
Mystery,
A great enemy,
It consumes the hearts of all.
But mystery gives way for
Understanding each time,
Because you cannot learn,
Without the unknown.

  1. This seems...not negative...ominous. Also "Because you cannot learn,
Without the unknown." Love these lines.

    1. Once again, I have used the "Negative Beginning, Positive Ending" theme :D I so love doing that. Here, though, it's less positive, more content

  2. Yes, Mystery does consume the hearts of all. It also consumes your mind as you try to solve the mystery, which only makes the "In its hands are minds" line even better. As a person that loves to learn, the "Because you cannot learn, Without the unknown" bit really does summarize my life. "Mystery, A great enemy" is also so appropriate because even though I love mystery (like my no spoiler view) it also drives me nuts (like the gazillion times I ignore my own self-imposed no spoiler policy). Lol.
I love this poem so much! It's ultimately my favorite of yours. :D
Aw man. Mark, you beat me to the "Negative Beginning, Positive Ending" statement. XD
