Lucas Stories: Enter Lark (March 2019)

For those who want a say in the Lucas Stories, you can now vote for Lucas' birthday!

The boy's face fell when he saw the cat his mom brought home. It looked evil. It was the last thing he wanted, especially since it glared at him.
"Say hi to Lark!" his mother exclaimed.
   Lark glared at the boy.
   The boy glared at Lark.
   Lark kept glaring.
   The boy kept glaring.
"Why don't you two play, get to know each other?" the boy's mom asked. "You know; bond!"
Lark let out an angry meow. His glare never faltered.
The boy reluctantly picked the cat up and carried it to his room, then he yelped as Lark scratched his arm and leaped onto his bed. "Listen here, human," Lark said, startling the boy, "this is now my bed. You are my slave. Now fetch me some treats."
The boy stared in shock. "You...talk..."
"Of course I talk, human," Lark half-snarled. "Would I be president of the world if I didn't talk?"
"You're not president," the boy told the cat. In this, he felt confident.
"I am, even if the world doesn't know it," Lark persisted. "Now fetch me some treats. Your mother starved me on the way here." The boy scurried downstairs.
"Can I give Lark a treat, please?" he asked.
"I knew you'd love him!" his mother exclaimed. "They're in the pantry."
The boy hurried to grab them, but it wasn't because he loved the cat, it was because he was afraid of the cat. He brought the treat upstairs to find that, to his horror, his bed was destroyed.
"You'd think humans would be better slaves," Lark muttered, then noticed the treat. "Well, I guess you are a good slave." Lark tilted his head as if pondering something. "You know what, in a symbol of my gratitude, I'll find you a nice, fat lizard and give it to you personally."

  1. I love how relatable as a cat owner this story is. I know how the boy feels. I have a cat I mean master myself. Lucas birthday should be on Pi day. That on Feb the 14. It's easy to remember because the date is the first three digits of the math formula.

    1. Thank you so much. I think I added an extra month in my head. XD
Does anyone else do the same thing all the time?

    2. Well, not quite that same thing, I just completely forget when it is, make a random guess, and find that it's pretty much opposite of what I guessed lol. I'd have guessed Pi Day to be March the 4th, though; that is a day I have tried so hard to memorize...

    3. OH, I feel stupid, now lol. Pi is equal to 3.14, and Pi Day is March the 14th; 3/14. -facepalm-
The stupid thing about this all is that I've learned this several times before :/

  2. I LOVE THIS! So this is the origin story of Lark...
*gasp* Wait a minute! This is a crossover! Has Lucas always been the owner of Lark, or did the previous and much abused owner finally get rid of Lark?
I actually enjoy the alternate format.
To be completely honest, I assumed it was normal to have talking cats. XD
Why does Lark make me think of Hannibal? XD

    1. Lark!

I love this crossover or origin story, or whatever you intended it to be, Mark. I kept laughing the whole time. :)

I really want Lark as a pet cat, he is just a poor misunderstood kitty.

Hey, Kyra, does Lark remind you of the war leader, Hannibal or Hannibal Lecter? Don't tell me you're comparing my future cat to that crazy, psychotic, posh, cannibal.

    2. The crazy guy. I haven't gotten a chance to see the movie, but from my limited knowledge, based mostly upon pop-culture references to the movie, Lark reminds me of Hannibal Lecter. Yeah...uh, Shaly, I wouldn't suggest adopting Lark. XD (;

    3. Lol It's a crossover of sorts, yes. It's more of an Alternate Universe, though; what would have happened if Lark's owner in the Lark Adventures had gotten rid of Lark? Well, poor Lucas ends up stuck with the cat lol
I never thought my evil cat (which I am glad I don't live with, anymore) actually spoke, but I'll tell you what, glares speak volumes. Like, see a cat glare, and it's like it's got telepathy. -shivers- I will never forget that look Java gave me when I gave her the smaller serving...

    4. Cool! I love AUs! Poor Lucas indeed.
I never believed my cat talked, but if he did, I wouldn't be surprised. XD
*shudders* A cat's glare is their greatest weapon.

  3. YAS you captured Lark in his form of awesomeness and kept his originality. I was worried about that when I heard of the crossover, but you nailed him!

  4. What color or species is Lark? I picture him being a fat Siamese or a Main-coon cat. XD

    1. I picture Siamese, too, but that's partly because that's the only cat-breed I know the specific name of AND the appearance of, so I (by default) think Siamese. Main-coon cats, though...those look cool O.O
Anyways, I'll ask Al what breed Lark is :D

    2. I picture Lark as a Russian Blue cat.
