March Has Come! Monthly Awards Announced!

It is time. The Monthly Awards must be given out, the polls must be revealed, and the competition winner must be revealed.

And I will ensure that it's dramatic!

First up, Reader Of The Month. This month, it was a voting for all of the readers to agree on. The shocking thing is, I got sixteen sets of votes in. The most amount of form submissions ever, excluding the Literary Submission Form. The winner is...GABBY L. WITH 9 VOTES! Impressive! More than half the people voted for Gabby! I guess this award is long overdue! Don't expect me to give any reasons, all I know is why I'd have voted for her, and that's because of her bubbly, outgoing personality, and her positivity! Congrats, Gabby!

Next up is Post of the Month. I chose "Soap Box: Of Censored Books" by S. Thorston Scarlett, because it was the first essay ever submitted, and I fear it did not get the views it deserved. Great work, Scarlett!

As far as Voting Results go, we were all voting for our favorite Mark Borne poem; it was a three-way tie! "If An Onion Were a Person", "Chains and Cages", and "Broken" all got 2 votes each, with "I Believe I Can Fly" getting 1 vote. If only one other person had voted, and chosen "I Believe I Can Fly"...-sighs miserably-

The winner of the Short Story Contest will also be the Poet of Steel with his short story, "The Storm"! The runner-up is S. Thorston Scarlett with her short story; I don't know what it's called, because I was stupid and forgot to add a title section for the form. Poet of Steel was very creative and saw my error, thankfully. Anyways, the short stories will be revealed shortly in another post entirely.

INTO THE FUTURE!!!

Wow, March is here! Heads up, it may be another busy month for me, I'm not sure. I think ever since I started this blog, life has given me plenty of chances to keep busy.

There will be no contest this month; instead, for March and April, the focus will be on the Collaborative Challenge. May might feature a contest, but I'm not sure yet. I guess it depends on popularity.

And as far as polls go, we'll be expanding to movies/books! Vote for your favorite series, of the ones listed!

Any ideas on how to improve the blog, expand it, or make it a better experience in general? Let me know in the comments!

-Mark Borne

    1. Eh, it was actually pretty close, because many of the people who voted for Gabby also voted for Scarlett; still, though, it was evident that a majority felt Gabby should've already won a prior award lol

...you haven't read it, yet? :O

      Not uncanny enough :(

"The Storm" is really good :D

    2. No, surprise for those. :)
      nope. :P
Did I accidentally submit my Cinderella in Space the wrong way for the short story contest? i just realized i submitted it via "Want to Contribute" rather tha the proper form. :P

    3. You did, yes, but I knew you meant for it to be part of the challenge; I judged it as well, and I just figured you had no change against Poet of Steel or S. Thorston Scarlett ;)

Oh, and I'm excited for that marathon lol

    4. Yeah, I guessed that. XD 9-year old me versus great poets is kinda hopeless.
      I am too

  2. Congratulations, Gabby! That’s really awesome!
I remember reading that essay and it was very well-written. Congratulations, Shaly!
And, Steel, that’s very cool; I’m excited to read your short story. Congratulations!
Man, that’s a lot of congratulations I just gave, but again, congratulations everyone! 🥳 I think this is a birthday emoji, but still, it’s the best one I could find for this occasion. Lol.

    1. For my computer, it's a square, but hey, cakes are usually squares, too, and cakes can be used for celebrations, so it works :D

    2. Actually, cakes are rectangle or circle, usually.

    3. Not my cakes
Then again, my cakes are usually fictional :/ I don't often really get birthday parties lol

  3. Uh....I don't like any of those series...

    1. Maybe if you added Divergent or Hunger Games

    2. Ah, I'll add Hunger Games; I don't want to add too many, though

  4. Okay, confession time. But first, thank you, Mark, for putting my essay as the Post of the Month, that means a lot to me.

    Secondly, yay, Steel Warrior!

Now, its confession time. I voted for everyone at least once, Lucy and Gabby the most, umm... and myself. But, for Gabby and Lucy the most. Gabby totally deserved it. Yay, Gabby! You go girl!

Lastly, did you really like my short story, Mark? Because that story is easily beatable not only by, Steel's, "Storm," but also, Kyra could have really beat me with her, "Cinderella in Space." By the way, my story's name is, "Mother."

    P.S.

I love, "The Chronicles of Narnia." I'm team Aslan, I don't like trolls with hairy feet or anything else you put. Lions rule, satyrs rule, centaurs rule, all those mythological and realistic animals rule! I just don't like trolls with hairy feet. End of story.

    1. Oh lol I was wondering if someone voted multiple times XD My polls get less than 10 votes, but the voting got 16, so I was suspicious lol. It's fine, though; just don't cheat next time, please :P

And yes, I did like your story; the primary reason I failed Kyra was because it's the only way she'd get a marathon, but I think I'd have still chosen your story for second, in the end. It's got a long of strong emotional appeal, and I'm a sucker for strong emotional appeal! It was a miracle for Poet of Steel that he won without strong emotional appeal lol

I've gotten a TON of votes already (like, already as many as the last poll got, and Idt everyone has voted, yet), and most of them are for the Chronicles of Narnia; it used to be my favorite all time movie series, but Marvel has gotten REALLY good with their movies (not sure about Captain Marvel, yet; she seems too powerful to be exciting, though) so I fell out of the Narnia zone. I want to rewatch the movies, though, I'm sure I'm just forgetting the best parts. First, though, I'm going through the Lord of the Rings movies lol

    2. Well, it’s the thought that counts, right? Shaly, I feel so flattered, tbh. Lol. I actually have my own little confession: I voted for you and Gabby, but I played by the rules. XD Okay, so maybe not a big confession I had, but I do think that the majority would agree that Gabby deserved the win, so no harm, no foul. :)

    4. Hi, crazies. I mean guys, hi guys.

Sorry for the late reply. Okay, Mark, I promise not to cheat next time. -Kissed My Pinky and Raised it High- Scouts, honor.

Secondly, I'm really happy you liked my story.

Hi, Lucy. Thank you, for voting for me. That means a lot.
