After a time, the world becomes dull;
After a while, the details slip your mind.
When you look long enough,
The world becomes invisible.
That that wreck that sends
your life before your eyes,
The loss that leaves you
breathlessly waiting,
The panic only true fear
Could possible evoke,
And the world appears new,
As if you just put on,
A pair of new glasses.

Rise and Shine, Mark!
ReplyDeleteI really like this poem, its so simple and pretty. And even if its not at all complex it still teaches a valuable lesson.
P.S.
I wish I wore glasses.
Ironically, I woke up an hour later than I usually do -.- I'm still exhausted, Idk why
Delete...wait, it does? :/ I was mostly just writing about my lack of attention to detail lol
And glasses can be cool, however I find it difficult to take good care of them. The pair I've got right now is the only one I've ever had that has remained intact, and that's prob because I've had it for less than a month :P
So, rise and shining was effective then? I woke up an hour later too. But, I'm a morning person, and I wet my face, so I'm not that groggy.
DeleteAnyway, I missed that whole aspect for your low attention to detail. Sorry. :/ I thought, it was figuratively saying to look at the world differently. Oops. That makes sense why your glasses stay intact, for some reason that made me laugh too. :)
Just one question. Do you have Harry Potter glasses? My uncle does, though he doesn't like Harry Potter. My mom just told him he looks good with that style on.
There was much rising, but there was no shine, so Idt it was effective xD And good for you, I'm more of a night owl, which sucks because that's the best way for me to become grumpy
DeleteHuh, I guess it could be figurative -shrug-. Accidental wisdom is, I suppose, my specialty lol. Perhaps even my talent! :D
No, I have thick, dark, boxy glasses. I never liked round ones, ever. I used to wear glasses with thin frames, but my dad made me wear thick frames once because the nose-pieces on the thin frames kept falling off, so I moved to thick frames since those nose-pieces are virtually impossible to break without breaking the glasses, and I've only gotten thin frames once since then (and guess what, a nose-piece fell off of that lol)
I become a grouch at the afternoon.
DeleteOooh, I like the description of you glasses. Hey, you are good with detail, in writing anyway. (And you have a specialty in accidental wisdom, or I believe a talent.) I'll beware thin frames. :P Well anyway, I think its pretty cool you got glasses. I want glasses, anyway. I think I look good in the 3D Movie Theater ones, and if your hair is a mess can glasses keep the hairy creature to the back and make it look tamed. Yeah, glasses are cool.
I can be; with normal everyday life I'm awful with it, but I always make sure I write with better detail than I see (That means a lot of details are usually just from other peoples' perspectives or just me modifying areas I don't remember to seem logical)
DeleteEh, I wouldn't count on your hair looking "tamed". I can have shorter hair and I prefer to keep my hair behind my ears (it just feels like I'm growing a beard, otherwise) and yet it does a poor job of that. Maybe it'd work better for long hair, Idk, but it doesn't work for me and my short hair XD
But they definitely make you look cooler, and it is nice, as a Christian, to have them. It reminds me that, just as I need glasses to be able to see the world around me, I am blind to sin without God
I think the poem is great!
DeleteA: Glasses? Have them.
B: Stay intact? Easier the longer you have them!
C: I changed from Google+ to a Blogger profile. Google+ is going away in April, so that would be pointless.
Thanks! :D
DeleteA: Neat lol
B: Depends on the person. For me, it's harder to keep something from falling apart lol
C: Yeah, I had posted a warning on my blog several weeks ago. I actually don't think you were around at the time
This is pretty much how I felt when I first wore glasses/contacts. I still feel this way, actually. Lol.
ReplyDeleteReally love the poem, though, and it's definitely detailed. XD
Seriously, this is an awesome piece, and the first few lines are relatable as well. Great work!
Thank you, I appreciate it :D
DeleteHi, Mark. Sorry for the late reply. :( To answer your statement about God and glasses, I love that perspective and I think its pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteLol Don't worry about it :D
DeleteOooh I love this! The meaning is so deep, and gives this different outlook on life, an outlook I'm trying to reach. This was really beautiful, I loved it, one of my favorites by you :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome, cool :D
Delete"When you look long enough,
ReplyDeleteThe world becomes invisible."
I absolutely love these lines omg.
Lol Thanks :D
