Lucas Stories: Goodbye Again (September 2019)

Read alongside Lucas Stories: Final Goodbyes (January 2019) for best effect. There are many parallels.

The boy wandered the street, looking at everything. It would soon be gone. Or, he would be gone. He knew he was moving away, soon. He knew that he would have to leave his park, his home…but he didn’t care. His only friend lived here, and he would miss her most.
On the way to her house, he gazed around at everything.
“Goodbye, garden,” he said to Mr. Jensen’s bed of growing veggies. “Goodbye, houses, and road, and playground.” He kept saying goodbye, and finally found the girl. “Goodbye, Abby,” he told her. “I’m going to be moving, soon.”
“Oh,” the girl said. “Goodbye, Lucas. When will I see you again?”
The boy thought and thought about his father, and what he had been told. “Perhaps next month,” he said from perfect memory.”
“When you come back, can we go to the playground?” the girl asked.
“When I come back, we can go anywhere you like,” the boy told her. “We can even go to Florida!”
“Okay. Goodbye, Lucas,” the girl said. “But please come back.”

It's shorter, yes, but it's something. Sorry for any tears I may have caused.
