These are just a bunch of quotes I've come across (all by fictitious characters, mind you) that I've thought were awesome. Admittingly, a majority of them are Pixar...
1. "What's the point of them being happy now if they're going to be sad later? The answer is of course - because they're going to be sad later." -The Doctor, "Doctor Who"
This quote has essentially become my motto! It's the perfect picture of optimism and why optimists always work so hard to make everything seem awesome. Of course, the Doctor wasn't an optimist all of the time, so it's not a quote solely for optimists, but it's still a great quote nonetheless.
2. "I look around at us and you know what I see? Losers...I mean like, folks who have lost stuff. And you think life takes more than it gives, but not today. Today it's giving us something. It's giving us a chance." -Peter Quill, "Guardians of the Galaxy"
This summarizes my pep talks, ironically. I try to be all epic and such, but poor word choice gets in the way, and it's not like my pep talk actually rallies anyone. But is this quote any less great? Not really. It shows how even a chance is worth fighting for. Me? I'll just watch while you guys take that chance.
3. "Alright, we didn't die today! I'd call that an unqualified success!" -Fear, "Inside Out"
It really IS a success. This quote is also best enjoyed in context.
4. "Now, you might not feel like you can do much now, but that's just because, well, you're not a tree, yet. You just have to give yourself more time. You're still a seed." -???, "A Bug's Life"
I cannot for the life of me remember who said this, but I love the quote. Growth! Change! It also fits in with the theme of my nanowrimo novel!
5. "Shh, shh, shh, shh! Do you hear that? It's the winds of change." -Randall, "Monsters INC"
This is probably one of my favorite Pixar villain quotes ever. I never understood it when I was younger, but I rewatched the movie in the last year and it cracked me up because I finally figured out what he meant. I must say, points for creativity.
6. "Greater good? I'm your wife! I'm the greatest good you're ever gonna get!" -Frozone's Wife, "The Incredibles"
I dare you to watch this scene and NOT laugh.
7. "Just keep swimming!" -Dory, "Finding Nemo"
Change the word "swimming" to whatever activity you need help doing, and just chant this to yourself. Dory is surprisingly motivational.
8. "Why, you stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder!" -Leia Organa, "The Empire Strikes Back"
You may be desperate, but you'll never be "Leia trying to come up with the ultimate insult" desperate.
9. "You can't stop change anymore than you can stop the suns from setting." Shmi Skywalker, "The Phantom Menace"
I don't know why, but I'm obsessed with change. It's like the ideal theme for me, and you can't change my mind.
10. "The day we stop believing democracy can work is the day we lose it." Queen Jamillia, "Attack of the Clones"
I'm kinda breaking my "no politics" rule right now, but I figure this is a handy quote to remember. Whether you're Conservative or Liberal, or somewhere in-between, there's a fantastic chance that this quote can inspire you.
